The attachment, called a dobby, allows the weaver to individually raise and lower the vertical threads while passing the horizontal weft yarn through. This creates distinctive patterns that are often repeated and can be textured and bumpy.

Operating out of Madras, India, the workshop Corridor utilizes partners with a rehabilitation center for women encountering domestic violence, and provides for its artisans an open air workshop, on-site day care, garden, and living wages.
