Made in Kesennuma, Miyagi Prefecture
The Gorogoro Hogushi salmon is produced at a factory in Kesennuma, Miyagi. There, a slightly stern but kind-hearted president, beloved by all the employees, leads the team. Everyone faces their work with cheerfulness and dedication, though this region suffered heavy damage during the Great East Japan Earthquake.
At that time, the factory was hit by a tsunami, but under the direction of the former president—who was the current president’s father—all employees survived. Tragically, the former president stayed behind at the factory and passed away.
“Fish marinated in 3% saltwater and grilled is the most delicious.”
Taking these words from his father to heart, the current president perfected this flaked salmon by marinating it in a minimal sauce and carefully grilling it to bring out the fish’s natural umami. The result is a taste that is unmatched elsewhere.
During a conversation with the president, he casually mixed some of the Gorogoro Hogushi salmon with mayonnaise and offered a taste.
“I often put this in bread and eat it,” he said.
