Introduction

Teaninich is a Highland distillery located in Alness, Ross-shire, founded in 1817 by Captain Hugh Munro. It is one of Scotland's lesser-known distilleries among casual drinkers because the vast majority of its production goes into Diageo's blended whiskies, particularly Johnnie Walker. However, among independent bottling enthusiasts, Teaninich is prized for its distinctive character — a fragrant, grassy, almost herbal spirit often compared to Japanese green tea and fresh-cut herbs. The distillery uses a unique mash filter system that produces ultra-clear wort, contributing to its clean and elegant house style.

This 16-year-old single cask was matured in a refill Oloroso sherry cask, adding layers of dried fruit and spice to that signature herbaceous freshness.
