Alexander Lazarev became the Chief Conductor of the Japan Philharmonic on January 10 and 11, 2009, at Suntory Hall and Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space. The release features performances from his inaugural concerts at Suntory Hall and the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre on January 10 and 11, 2009. Both performances were packed to capacity and greatly impressed the audience with Lazarev's appointment as chief conductor and his thoroughness as a conductor. Lazarev controlled the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra with his characteristic power and precise leadership, and fully brought out the dynamic texture of the orchestra. The forward tempo and rhythmic power of the orchestra were also very rewarding to listen to.
