In Native American Indian lore, in some southwestern tribes, such as the Hopi, Navajo, and Zuni, the Raven and Coyote both are seen as tricksters, a modern day "Murphy" so to speak, as in "Murphy's Law." Perhaps Raven created Coyote to keep his skill honed, an honorable adversary, and both compete with each other to keep us humans bewildered and humble, a large task.
