What it does: The template lays flat across the belt end and provides precisely positioned hole guides for marking. The installer marks each hole through the template, then drills or punches the marked locations. The result is a row of evenly spaced holes positioned correctly for the Plategrip bolt pattern.

Why use a template: Without a template, hole positioning is done by measurement and eyeballing, which produces uneven splices that fail prematurely. The template eliminates measurement error and speeds up splice preparation. One template reused across many splices is far cheaper than wasted belts from misaligned splices.

Sizing match: This template is specifically sized for size 3 Plategrip fasteners on 36-inch belts (for belts 13/16 to 7/8 inch thick). Different Plategrip sizes (1, 140, 190, 1 1/4, 1 1/2, 2, 2 1/4, 2 1/2, 3) have different bolt patterns. Each combination of fastener size and belt width has its own template.

How to use: Lay the template flat across the freshly cut and squared belt end. Align the template edges with the belt edges. Mark each hole through the template guide holes with a center punch or marker. Remove the template, then drill or punch the marked locations to the size specified for your Plategrip fastener (refer to the Plategrip bolt size specification in the catalog).

Angle variant: This template is available in 90-degree (square splice) and 45-degree (bias splice) angle variants. The 45-degree bias splice provides smoother belt operation and longer splice life on conveyors with frequent direction changes or high speeds. The 90-degree square splice is faster to install and acceptable for most standard applications. Select the variant when ordering.
